1
onion, quartered
5
cloves garlic, minced, divided
2 tbsp
minced fresh ginger, divided
30 mL
1 tbsp
Chinese 5-spice powder
15 mL
1 tsp
salt
5 mL
1/2 cup
honey
125 mL
1/4 cup
lime juice
60 mL
1/4 cup
soy sauce
60 mL
2 tbsp
finely chopped fresh cilantro
30 mL
1 tbsp
toasted sesame seeds
15 mL

Method

Step 1
Bring large pot of water (just enough water to cover ribs) to a boil. Add ribs, onion, 3 minced cloves garlic and 1 tbsp (15 mL) ginger. Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer 1 hr. 30 min. until very tender. Let ribs cool 15 min. in the cooking water. Drain (discard onion pieces) and season with Chinese 5-spice powder and salt. Set aside.
Step 2
In bowl, whisk together honey, lime juice, soy sauce, remaining garlic and ginger.
Step 3
Preheat grill to high heat. Place ribs on grill; reduce heat to medium. Brush frequently with honey-soy glaze. Cook about 10 min., turning often, until glaze is sticky. Transfer ribs to platter. Sprinkle with cilantro and sesame seeds to serve.
