Donair Burgers & Halifax Sauce

Ingredients

  1. 1/3 cup (75 mL) sweetened condensed milk
  2. 2 tbsp (30 mL) white vinegar
  3. 1/2 tsp (2 mL) garlic powder
  4. 1/2 tsp (2 mL) onion powder
  5. 1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt
  6. 8 Canadian Chuck burgers (each 6 oz/180 g)
  7. 8 Kaiser buns
  8. 2 cups (500 mL) shredded iceberg lettuce
  9. 16 tomato slices
  10. 1 cup (250 mL) diced onion

Method

  1. Stir sweetened condensed milk with white vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 min. 
  2. Grill burgers on barbecue preheated to medium-high 5 to 6 min. per side or until cooked through, and internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). 
  3. Place burger patties on buns. Top with lettuce, tomato, onions and sauce
