Herbed Mushroom and Barley Risotto Gift Jar

Ingredients

  1. 1 pkg (1/2 oz/ 14 g) dried mushrooms, such as porcini, chanterelle, shiitake, portabello or oyster
  2. 1 1/4 cups (300 mL) pearl barley
  3. 1 tbsp (15 mL) onion flakes
  4. 1 tsp (5 mL) each dried basil, parsley, thyme and rosemary
  5. 1/2 tsp (2 mL) dehydrated minced garlic
  6. 1/4 tsp (1 mL) each salt and pepper

Method

  1. In 2-cup (500-mL) Mason jar or tall, narrow re-sealable container, layer ingredients in the following order: dried mushrooms, barley, onion flakes, basil, parsley, thyme and rosemary, dehydrated garlic, salt and pepper. Seal with lid and decorate with festive ribbon or string, tag and recipe for Herbed Mushroom & Barley Risotto.
