Chocolate Chip Cookies for Two

Ingredients

  1. 2 tbsp (30 mL) unsalted butter, room temperature
  2. 2 tbsp (30 mL) firmly packed brown sugar
  3. 1 tbsp (15 mL) sugar
  4. 1 egg yolk
  5. 1/4 tsp (1 mL) vanilla extract
  6. 1/3 cup (75 mL) all-purpose flour
  7. 1/4 tsp (1 mL) baking soda
  8. pinch salt
  9. 1 oz (30 g) chopped bittersweet chocolate or scant 1/4 cup (60 mL) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  10. 1 tbsp (15 mL) chopped walnuts (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). In bowl, cream together butter, both sugars, egg yolk and vanilla until smooth.
  2. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt until just combined. Mix in chocolate and walnuts (if using).
  3. Drop 4 equal mounds dough on parchment paper-lined baking sheet, about 2 in. (5 cm apart). Bake 12 min., or until golden.
  4. Cool on baking sheet 2 min. then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
Tip:
Substitute pecans for walnuts.
