Retail Leadership Development Series

The RLD program is a three step series designed to build your knowledge and skills up to the Store Manager role. The Store Management is trained to help you learn every aspect of the store's operation. You will learn through a combination of online, classroom and on the job training.

RLD 1

The first step of the program is an introduction to store management from a total store perspective, focusing on leadership skills and overall store operations. It is designed for employees in supervisory roles identified as high performing / high potential and have expressed interest in pursuing a career in retail store management.

RLD 2

RLD 3

Once you have been a 1st Assistant Manager for a minimum of 12 months, the next step is RLD 3. This program helps a 1st Assistant Manager build the practical skills needed to perform higher level management functions and prepare for the Store Manager role.

The program focuses on leadership development to include: total store operations, financial skills, soft skill training and performance management. The training includes a combination of classroom, independent study, and on the job training.

Minimum requirements to apply for our Management training program as an external applicant:

  • A high school diploma (or equivalent).
  • 3 year combination of retail experience and/or post-secondary education. A minimum of 6 months retail experience.
  • Favorable background check.
  • Ability to relocate (transferring stores is necessary throughout the development process and for promotional placements). This can include both urban and rural locations throughout the Operating Area. Every effort is made to balance the business needs with each individual’s circumstances to ensure we maintain the highest level of Management Leadership in all our locations.
