Raising the bar: The zero-proof drinks revolution

Non-alcoholic cocktails are no longer the sugary juices and carbonated concoctions of the past. Instead, they're a trendy, elegant, and enjoyable addition to get-togethers year-round.

Ordering a non-alcoholic cocktail used to mean a choice between a juicy and overly sweet drink or yet another soda water. Times have changed, though, largely thanks to a few craft cocktail bartenders who had a vision for "zero-proof" menus—tasty and stylish drinks that fit in perfectly with other craft beverages.

It was an idea whose time had come, both with patrons and other bartenders. Now, whether it's called the "PG list" or "temperance drinks," every great cocktail bar has an alcohol-free section, stacked with contemporary zero-proof options, many of which provide healthy inspiration for entertaining at home, too.
