Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil, divided
  • 1 pkg (600 g) Sensations by Compliments Sterling Silver® Chuck Beef Meatballs
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups (625 mL) reduced sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) 35% whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) finely chopped fresh chives

Method

  1. Heat half the oil in large skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs, in batches for 5 to 7 min., until browned. Transfer to plate.
  2. Add remaining oil to skillet. Cook onion over medium heat 3 to 5 min., until tender and lightly golden. Sprinkle in flour. Cook, stirring, about 1 min. or until flour is no longer dry. Slowly whisk in broth. Continue to whisk and bring to a boil. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, nutmeg and meatballs. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring, 3 to 5 min. until meatballs are cooked through and sauce thickens. Stir in cream.
  3. Sprinkle with chives and serve over mashed potatoes or egg noodles, if desired.
Tips: Serve with cranberry sauce. Also, stir in peas, corn kernels or chopped broccoli for a veggie-packed version.
