
Honey Soy Barbecue Spare Ribs

2 racks pork side ribs center cut removed, cut into one-bone portions
1 onion, quartered
2 tbsp minced ginger, divided
5 cloves garlic, minced and divided
1 tbsp Chinese 5 spice powder
1 tsp salt
½ cup honey
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup lime juice
2 tbsp finely chopped fresh cilantro
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

¼ cup lime juice

Directions
1Bring large pot of water to a boil. Add ribs, onion, 1 tbsp (15 mL) ginger and 3 cloves garlic. Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer 90 min. until cooked through and very tender. Let cool completely in water. Discard onion and garlic. Season rib with Chinese 5 spice and salt.
2Meanwhile, whisk together honey, soy sauce, lime juice, remaining ginger and garlic.
3Preheat grill to high heat, grease grates well. Add ribs to grill and reduce heat to medium. Cook ribs, basting and turning frequently with honey soy glaze, about 10 min. until well marked and sticky. Transfer to serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and cilantro.

Could also serve 6 as a main dish.
