Ingredients

  • 1 lb (500 g) lean ground turkey
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup (75 mL) finely crushed tortilla chips (size of coarse bread crumbs)
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) grated onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) chili powder
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) lime zest
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt
  • 4 bakery-style burger buns, toasted
  • 2 cups (500 mL) finely chopped tomato
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) lime juice
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) finely chopped cilantro
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt

Method

  1. To make patties, mix turkey with egg, crushed tortilla chips, onion, garlic, chili powder, lime zest and salt. Divide into 4 portions. Shape each into 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick patties. Cook on preheated grill, at medium-high heat, for 5 to 6 min per side or until cooked through.
  2. Make salsa by mixing the tomato, red onion, lime juice, cilantro, garlic and salt.
  3. Serve grilled burger patties in toasted buns with the tomato salsa.
Tip:
Top burger with Monterey Jack cheese, guacamole and pickled jalapenos or garnish as desired.
