Ingredients

1/2 cup
unsalted butter
125 mL
1 cup
firmly packed brown sugar
250 mL
1/2 cup
35% whipping cream
125 mL
1/4 tsp
salt
1 mL
2 tbsp
dark rum
30 mL

Method

Step 1

Combine butter, sugar, cream and salt in medium saucepan; bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium and continue to simmer, stirring frequently, 5 to 8 min. until sugar dissolves and sauce thickens and darkens slightly. Stir in rum. Serve with desserts.

Tips

Substitute rum with bourbon. Or use orange juice for a non-alcoholic sauce.
