Give your grill
some game

As your fresh-off-the-grill meat rests, take this time to add a bonus flavour boost with these three ideas.

  1. Finishing salts give grilled meat a last-minute flavour pop. Create your own concoction with a mix of sea salt and ground chilies. Or, make it more earthy with dried mushrooms and your own herbs and spices. Sample Text Item
  2. Freeze blue cheese then grate it over fresh-from-the-grill steak for a creamy, salty surprise.
  3. Seize the Caesar! Bring the zestiness of the nation's popular savoury cocktail to grilled meats and seafoods. Brush on our new Spirited Mickie Great Canadian Caesar BBQ Sauce.
  4. Go on, rub it in: all of our Safeway' meat department marinades, glazes and rubs contain no artificial flavours or preservatives and are proudly produced in Canada.

Slow-grilled brisket at its best

  1. Rub brisket generously with your favourite spice rub (use one with no sugar).
  2. Lightly char all sides of the brisket on BBQ. Wrap in foil.
  3. Set on indirect or low heat (about 110°C/225°F) with the lid closed, for 3-4 hours. Check for tenderness. Continue cooking, if required, until fully tender and internal temperature reaches 77°C (170°F).
  4. Unwrap and place directly on grill to crisp edges. Brush with BBQ sauce, if desired.
  5. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
