Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup firmly packed brown sugar 75 mL
  • ¼ cup butter 60 mL
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice 15 mL
  • 1 cup salted peanuts 250 mL
  • 1 cup salted pretzels 250 mL
  • 1 cup shredded wheat cereal 250 mL
  • 1 cup toasted oat cereal 250 mL

Method

  1. Combine brown sugar, butter and pumpkin pie spice in small saucepan set over medium heat. Cook 3 to 5 min., or until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Place peanuts, pretzels, wheat cereal and oat cereal in 13 x 9-in. (3 L) foil pan. Drizzle with melted butter mixture; toss to coat.. Cover tightly with foil.
  3. Place foil pan on indirect heat in grill preheated to medium-high. Cook 8 to 10 min., shaking pan frequently, until mixture is fragrant. Remove from grill. Wearing oven mitts to avoid steam, carefully remove foil cover. Cool completely. Store in airtight container up to 1 week.

Tip

  • Add 1/4 tsp (1 mL) cayenne pepper to melted butter mixture for extra spiciness.
