Spiced Hazelnut Latte

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups (500 mL) milk
  2. 2 tbsp (30 mL) firmly packed brown sugar
  3. 1 tsp (5 mL) ground ginger
  4. 1/2 tsp (2 mL) ground cinnamon
  5. 1/4 tsp (1 mL) ground nutmeg
  6. pinch each cloves and pepper
  7. 4 cups (1 L) brewed coffee, such as Sensations by Compliments Hazelnut Crème Medium Roast Ground Coffee
  8. 1/4 cup (60 mL) 35% whipping cream, whipped to stiff peaks
  9. 2 tbsp (30 mL) finely chopped toasted hazelnuts

Method

  1. Combine milk, brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and pepper in medium saucepan set over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring often, 3 to 5 min. until steaming.  Whisk with frother or hand blender until frothy.
  2. Divide hot coffee among 6 large mugs. Pour frothy milk over coffee. Top with dollop of whipped cream. Garnish with hazelnuts.

Tips: Spike lattes with 2 tbsp (30 mL) Frangelico or your favourite liqueur. Also, sweeten whipped cream to taste.
