Black Bean Turkey Chili

  1. 1 large onion, chopped
  2. 2 tablespoons S Sensations Extra Virgin 100% Olive Oil
  3. 2 tablespoons Compliments Chili Powder
  4. 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  5. Salt and freshly ground pepper
  6. 11/4 pounds ground turkey breast
  7. 1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
  8. 2 cans (15 ounces each) Compliments Black Beans, rinsed and drained
  9. 2 cups Compliments Chicken Broth
  10. 11/2 cups fine shredded Cheddar Jack Cheese
  11. Lucerne® Sour Cream (optional)
  12. Chopped green onions (optional)


  1. In a deep, 12-inch nonstick frying pan or 4- to 5-quart pan, combine onion, olive oil, chili powder, cumin, and salt and pepper to taste over medium-high heat. 
  2. Stir often until onion begins to soften and spices are fragrant, 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add turkey and garlic to pan. 
  4. Cook, stirring often and crumbling meat, until turkey is lightly browned, about 4 minutes. 
  5. Add beans and broth. 
  6. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat and simmer just until heated through,2-3 minutes.
  7. Spoon chili into serving bowls. 
  8. Offer cheese, sour cream, and green onions to add to taste.
