Savoury Blue Cheese Burgers

  1. 1 1/4 -1 1/3 pounds ground beef (96% lean)
  2. 2 Compliments Large Eggs, lightly beaten
  3. 2 tablespoons Compliments Worcestershire Sauce
  4. 1/2 cup Plain Bread Crumbs
  5. 2 tablespoons minced Compliments Organics Chives
  6. 4 tablespoons Crumbled Blue Cheese
  7. 8 crosswise slices of SafewaySELECT® Artisan Como Bread (about 1/2-inch thick)
  8. sliced tomatoes (optional)
  9. Compliments Mayonnaise (optional)


  1. Preheat oven broiler to high. In a large bowl, gently mix together beef, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, and chives just until blended. 
  2. Divide mixture into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty about 4 inches in diameter.
  3. Place 4 of the patties on a nonstick or lightly oiled broiler pan. 
  4. Spoon 1 tablespoon blue cheese onto the center of each patty. 
  5. Place one remaining patty over each cheese covered patty. 
  6. Gently press edges together to seal together.
  7. Broil hamburgers 6 inches from heat until tops are well browned, 3-4 minutes.
  8. With a spatula, turn burgers over and continue broiling until other sides are brown and burgers are done to your liking, 3-4 more minutes for medium rare
  9. (cut to test).
  10. If desired, toast bread. Serve burgers on bread with sliced tomatoes and mayonnaise if desired.
