Steakhouse Burger

Ingredients

  1. 8 Canadian Chuck burgers (each 6 oz/180 g)
  2. 1 lb (500 g) portabello mushrooms, stems removed, thinly sliced
  3. 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
  4. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  5. 1 tsp (5 mL) steak spice blend
  6. 1/4 tsp (1 mL) each salt and pepper
  7. 1 tbsp (15 mL) balsamic vinegar
  8. 8 burger buns
  9. 1/2 cup (125 mL) mayonnaise
  10. 1/2 cup (125 mL) Sir Kensington Ketchup or regular ketchup
  11. 8 slices Swiss cheese

Method

  1. Grill burgers on barbecue preheated to medium-high for 5 to 6 min. per side or until cooked through and internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). 
  2. Meanwhile, cook mushrooms in olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add garlic, steak spice, salt and pepper and cook 8 to 10 min. or until golden and tender. Add balsamic vinegar and cook 1 min.
  3. Assemble burger patties in buns with mayonnaise, ketchup, cheese and mushrooms.
