Baseball Pizza

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Makes: 6

  1. 1 ball (650 g) Compliments Pizza Dough
  2. 1/2 cup (125 mL) pizza sauce
  3. 1/2 cup (125 mL) thinly sliced mushrooms
  4. 1/2 green pepper, diced
  5. 3/4 cup (175 mL) shredded mozzarella cheese
  6. 24 lengthwise strips red pepper (approx. 1/4-in./5-mm wide slices)

  1. Preheat oven to 450˚F (230˚C). Roll dough on lightly floured surface into 15-in. (38-cm) diameter round, about 1/4-in. (5-mm) thick. Transfer to lightly floured pizza pan or baking sheet.
  2. Spread pizza sauce on dough, leaving 1-in. (2.5-cm) border. Scatter mushrooms and green pepper overtop and sprinkle on cheese.
  3. Using pepper strips, make two curving rows of "stitches" to resemble the pattern on a baseball. (Use 12 red pepper strips per row, making "X"s as the stitches.)
  4. Bake pizza on middle rack of oven 18 to 20 min., until crust is golden brown. Let stand 2 min. before slicing and serving.

  • When making pizza, limit toppings as too many ingredients may result in a soggy crust.
  • Add cooked or cured meats for a non-vegetarian option.
  • Garnish with fresh basil or hot pepper flakes.
