4 Easy Steps for Roasting a Turkey
- Prep It: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. While the oven is heating prepare the turkey for roasting by removing the neck and giblets, rinse the turkey and pat dry with paper towel. Place the turkey in your roasting pan breast side up and fill the cavity with your choice of stuffing or halved onions with a few fresh sprigs of rosemary and thyme. Last but not least rub the skin with softened butter, and season generously with salt and pepper or your choice of seasoning.
- Roast It: Roast for 15 minutes per pound or until the internal temperature reaches 185°F when taken at the thickest part of the filet and the juices run clear.
- Baste It: Using the juices on the bottom of your roasting pan, baste every 30 minutes
- Rest It: Remove the turkey from the roasting pan, place on a cutting board and cover with aluminum foil. Let the turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving
That's it! Once your turkey is done resting, carve it up and serve to your guests.
