Caring for the community is an integral part of Safeway - it's truly what lies in the heart of our company – and for over 80 years, Safeway has been an active member in the communities where our customers and employees live and work. Established in 2002, the Canada Safeway Foundation ensures this tradition of caring continues by supporting initiatives that feed, protect and nurture children and families in Western Canada.

Together with our customers, employees, suppliers and charitable partners we strive to improve the health and wellness of Canadians. We do so by investing in a range of innovative programs, creating successful partnerships with non-profit organizations and raising awareness for such causes as cancer research and families living with disabilities. By working together we can help ensure more people will receive the ingredients they need to succeed in life.

The Canada Safeway Foundation provides funding to programs and initiatives that support:

- Children and families living with disabilities
- Breast cancer research and awareness
- Prostate cancer research and awareness
- Nutrition education and hunger prevention
